About Us

Mahibere Kidusan literally means “Association in the Name of Saints,” was established to honor the Saints who renounced worldly pleasures and sacrificed their lives for the Orthodox faith—the very faith prophesied by the prophets and preached by the apostles.
Mahibere Kidusan Coordinating Center in North America is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 84-1600968) established exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, cultural and social purpose of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in united state as well as in Ethiopia.

1984 G.C.

The Movement

A small group of visionary university students inspired their peers to join Sunday School and immerse themselves in the teachings of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

Their mission gained deeper roots through students trained at the Zeway Hamere Berehan St. Gabriel Clergy Training Monastery.

1990 G.C.

A Call to Unity

When university students across the nation were summoned for military service, a moment of hardship turned into one of divine purpose.

The youth grew stronger in fellowship across Ethiopia.

1992 G.C.

Formal Establishment

With the blessing of the Holy Synod, the movement was officially organized as “Mahibere Kidusan.”

It continues to flourish in spiritual service throughout Ethiopia and the diaspora.

OBJECTIVES

Empower the Church’s Institutional management, operating system and perception for a strong and time redeemer services, through support of technology and various methods.

Expand gospel and apostolic mission multifaceted all over the world by organized and accessible centralized method.

Fructify and procure servile who are redeemer of the time, whole and orthodox, serving in the constitution of the Church as well as active participants in the social, economic, political and national management affairs through constructible curriculum, enabling students of Higher School Institutions attain full personhood.

Preserving the Church through firm apologetics based on the study and research about the blazon rumor on Church, spurious tales and trials of the Church activities by challenging and correcting the mistakes.

Enhance the role of empowerment of children and youngsters by consolidating the Sunday School’s capacity to empower the successor generation’s source.

Executing organized and discerning services by constructing a family expressing orthodox spirituality endeavors and orthodox community maintaining its unity.

For the association to create an institutional working system redeeming the time, enabling the fulfillment of its mission (in Management, Human Resource, Spirituality, Relation, Knowledge, Development, Finance and Technology).

Enhance the economic, social and political participation of orthodox through the principle of International Public Relation and Cooperatives Services.

MEMBERSHIP

Mahibere Kidusan members are devoted believers of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church who join the association to serve the Church in unity, guided by the direction of the Holy Synod.

Members are expected to:

Regularly attend services at their local parish church.

Be active participants in either a Sunday School or the Church’s Sebeka Gubae (board).

Contribute

Contribute a monthly financial donation to support the organization’s goals.

STRUCTURE

Mahibere Kidusan is set under the Sunday School department of the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox Church (EOTC).  MKUS is one of Mahibere Kidusan’s centers and provides spiritual services by its Regional coordinating centers and Subcenters and Coordinating centers in the EOTC dioceses all over US and in the Diaspora.
